Oxbridge Application Timeline

June - September: Research the university and attend open days where possible. Select your college and course.

August - October: Confirm which tests you will need to take, find out how to prepare and start practice. Register for any required admissions tests via the university’s website.

September - October: UCAS application (including personal statement and academic references). NB this is three months earlier than the main university application deadline.

October: Admissions tests are sat online at a testing centre in the UK or internationally.

November: If the course you are applying for requires written work, this should demonstrate your analytical, language, reasoning and writing skills as appropriate for your chosen degree course. The written work may form a springboard for discussion at your interview, should you be shortlisted.

December: Interviews are designed to assess your academic potential in a discussion about your chosen subject. Interviews may be online or in person depending on your chosen college/course. Decisions are based on your ability to think independently and to engage with new ideas beyond the scope of your school syllabus.

January: You will find out if your application has been successful. You may receive an offer conditional on achieving certain examination results. If you have already completed your examinations and received the required results, your place will become unconditional.

  • Personal Statements

This is your chance to tell the university about yourself: your interests, academic background and why you want to study with them.  It’s an important piece of writing, and our expert Oxbridge tutors can help ensure it represents you at your best.

  • College Choice

Every college is different and your college choice can determine your entire university life, from your tutors, to your accommodation and friends. Ensuring you really understand the differences and the unique culture of each college will enable you to make the right application decision.

  • Exam Preparation

For some courses, you’ll be required to sit an admissions test, which the university use to assess your academic potential and suitability for the course.  All candidates are advised to prepare thoroughly for these tests, and our tutors use past papers and online practice to ensure you get the best possible result.

  • Interview Skills

Admission interviews are a key part of the process, testing for your self-motivation, ability to think independently and engage with new ideas. We provide tutors who have been through the process themselves, who know how to prepare and how to excel.
