Founded in 2008, British Tutors is an award-winning private tuition and education consultancy company. We arrange lessons with top tutors in Hong Kong and Singapore, offering academic support in a wide range of subjects. PHILOSOPHY
The aim of British Tutors is to draw on the best of the UK education system to both enhance and complement schooling for international students. We go beyond the school curriculum to instil in our pupils a love of learning through reading, discussion and debate. We always strive to present our lessons in a fun and interesting way to engage students. Above all, we encourage them to think critically and to have both the confidence and skill to express their own ideas and opinions. With confidence comes a motivation to succeed and an improvement in results.

All lessons are tailored and British Tutors caters to the needs of the most discerning parents. We are flexible to changing schedules and locations, across Asia and beyond. Private tuition can take place in your home or our office.
BRITISH EDUCATION
Our tutors all have access to our library of British teaching materials, bringing the best of British education to their students in Hong Kong and Singapore. As a company, we specialise in teaching children who are entering the British schooling system, to bridge the gap and ease the transition between the local system and that in the UK. We offer expert education consultancy services and tutorials on entrance exams and interviews for UK schools and universities.

All our tutors are graduates of the world's top universities, specialists in their subjects from English to Economics, French to Latin. They are chosen for their own academic excellence and their wealth of experience as private tutors and teachers. We offer continuous training, support and resources for our staff ensuring that this high quality is maintained.
In private tuition the relationship between the tutor and the pupil is paramount and we take great care in making sure that the correct tutor is chosen for each student. Lines of communication between our tutors and our clients are always open and we encourage frank discussion to make sure that all the students' tutoring needs are met.
Olivia Hungerford - Co-founder and Director
Olivia runs British Tutors alongside co-founder Eleanor Ford. A graduate of Christ Church College, Oxford University with a Masters degree in English Language and Literature, she has designed learning programmes, written curricula and taught English and arts subjects both in Hong Kong and abroad. She is a highly experienced private tutor with specialisms including homeschooling, academic assessments and Common Entrance preparation. Olivia runs our consultancy service for UK boarding schools.
Eleanor Ford - Co-founder and Director
Co-founder and Director of British Tutors, Eleanor graduated from The University of Edinburgh with a First Class Masters degree in Psychology. Here she specialised in developmental and educational psychology as well as enhancing learning in children. Eleanor received A grades in all her own school examinations and has tutored pupils in both London and Hong Kong to receive similar results. Since founding British Tutors in 2008, she has worked with our team of tutors to ensure that the highest standards are maintained.
Yolanda Miller - Director
Yolanda works closely with clients and tutors alike to ensure the smooth running of British Tutors. Growing up in Hong Kong, Yolanda speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin giving her insight into the specific needs of Hong Kong parents and the Hong Kong school system. She also brings over eight years of primary teaching experience to the British Tutors team. Yolanda holds a Bachelors degree from Nottingham University, a Masters degree from the University of Hong Kong and a Masters degree from the London School of Economics.
Suzy El-Shazly - Hong Kong Operations Manager
Suzy works alongside the British Tutors team to assist clients in finding the right tutor for their needs. Suzy holds a first class Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from The Open University, UK, and has also studied at Dalhousie University, Canada. She works as a tutor with Primary and Early Years students where her knowledge of developmental and social psychology fuels her love of teaching.
Travis P - Singapore Operations Manager
Travis works closely with parents and tutors in Singapore to ensure the British Tutors team provides the highest level of professionalism and dedication. Growing up in Vancouver and living in over a dozen countries, Travis speaks French and Spanish and is learning Indonesian and Malay. He has studied and taught politics and philosophy at the Universities of Victoria, British Columbia and Edinburgh and law at McGill and London - helping him to bring a diverse and international experience to his lessons.
Salina Lee - Accounts Department
Headed by Salina, the accounts department manages invoicing and sends on detailed monthly progress reports to clients.
Nathaniel Hunt - Online Communications
Nathaniel is the camera and quill behind the British Tutors social media accounts. He graduated from New College, Oxford with a First Class degree in French and Russian. He teaches English, Latin and French, as well as helping students with their exam technique and essay writing skills.
Sabine - London Primary Schools Consultant
Sabine is one of London's leading consultants on nursery school and primary school entrance. Drawing on her background as a trained teacher, Sabine has been working in schools consultancy for over a decade. She has developed close working relationships with the most popular schools in Central and West London and, as a result, is well-placed to offer informed, impartial and expert guidance.
CHLOE - London secondary schools consultant
Chloe draws on her diverse teaching experience and her detailed knowledge of London schools to advise parents on the best options for their child. She has been working in education for over 15 years, during which time she has qualified as a teacher and as an assessor for children with various Special Educational Needs. Working at prestigious Garden House school and Thomas’s Battersea and well as being a private tutor, she has helped children gain places at all the top London secondary schools.
